Healix provides ‘Second Opinion Service’ for The Police Healthcare Scheme

Healix is working with The Police Healthcare Scheme to provide a ‘second opinion’ service for its private healthcare.

The Police Healthcare Scheme is run by the police, for the police, and supports more than 14,000 police officers, police staff and their families nationwide.  The majority of claims made are handled by the scheme itself, but if they require medical expertise to assess a claim or claims are made for acute medical conditions, the scheme operators then contact the Healix Healthcare Medical team for advice and assistance.

"This is a novel way of using the Healix medical expertise to complement a healthcare scheme's own rules" explained Richard Saunders, Sales Director, Healix. "We provide healthcare services to a wide number of employers and their employees - encompassing all aspects from claims handling to medical assessment and treatment.  But in the case of The Police Healthcare Scheme they simply wanted access to medical expertise for 'second opinion' support, which we are happy to provide."

Paul Tonks, General Manager of PHS says "When I was appointed to manage PHS it was apparent that the scheme was crucially lacking medical expertise and support. Healix have more than adequately filled that void and my staff and I are delighted in their continued support and advice."
