Healix's latest fund-raising challenge saw Paul Beven (Healix Director) and Jane Kennet (Healix IT) complete a 17 day cycling extravaganza covering 1,550 miles to raise £14,177 for the British Heart Foundation.
Starting off at Big Ben in the heart of London, the pair headed for Portsmouth to board the overnight ferry to France. Once in France, they cycled through the Normandy and Loire regions via Le Mans and Cognac, before heading towards the coast, where they enjoyed a well earned rest day in Biarritz. From there the route followed the coastline and they left France as they crossed the border into rural Spain where the terrain was much hillier and the cycling very challenging.
The gruelling cycle ride continued towards Madrid and through the Castilla-La-Mancha region and then into the historic town of Cordoba for a second day of rest. The last leg of the challenge passed through Andalusia before they finally reached the finish line at the Rock of Gibraltar and the celebrations began!
Paul and Jane were joined on the ride, for part or all of the journey, by a selection of family, friends and colleagues. Some joined in with the cycling whilst others acted as invaluable back-up crew.
We are all incredibly proud of their amazing achievement and thank all their sponsors for helping them to raise such an extraordinary sum of money for the British Heart Foundation
