This quarter, we assess the challenges posed by developments in weaponry utilised by terrorist actors, focusing on the prominence of TATP devices used by Islamic State jihadists and the risks presented by the use of chemical and biological weapons.

Developments in counter-terrorism efforts in Turkey are analysed, while we also highlight the difficulty in protecting religious sites, which are a frequent target for acts of political violence. The threat posed by Lashkar-e-Taiba is evaluated, as the jihadist group attempts to break into Pakistani politics.
