Q&A with our Director of Corporate Healthcare Proposition, Sarah Taylor
What’s your favourite part of working at Healix Health?
I love the people and the can do attitude. Everyone is so focussed on our clients and doing what is right for them and importantly we all work as a team. Things get done. From the first day I started everyone has been so welcoming and it really feels like a work family. The culture of an organisation is so important to me and it is so difficult to get it right. Healix Health has done that.
How does your role help shape the way organisations experience and access healthcare support?
I am passionate about healthcare and making sure that we work on behalf of our clients to deliver healthcare that makes a difference to them and to their people. We need to help them move the dial from reactive healthcare to making sure their people stay well, whether this be through cultural change, helping employees improve their health or supporting them when they are sick and making sure that we get people to the right place as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The experience of healthcare starts when every individual contacts us – we are part of the journey for each and every one of our members and helping them navigate their way through what can sometimes be very difficult and frightening times is such a huge responsibility. Access for our members needs to be simple, we need to be able to help navigate them to where they need to be and work with partners who put the patient at the heart of everything they do
What are your main priorities when developing and evolving corporate healthcare solutions?
We must balance clinical quality, appropriate care, affordability and value.
Whatever we develop must deliver 3 things:
- be clinically led,
- be customer focused, and
- be commercially sustainable.
We need to understand what is changing in healthcare and move quickly to adapt to a changing health landscape and needs of our clients. The world and the needs of our customers continue to evolve and we need to be sure that we are aligned to that and can advise accordingly whether this be new and emerging treatments, different ways of accessing care, shifts in NHS delivery and the changing needs of people.
How does your work impact the wellbeing of employees using Healix Health?
As our proposition develops we will see a greater focus on prevention – keeping people well must be the focus for everyone and we need to find ways to do this that are easy to understand and usable.
Giving people access to care in ways that suit them is important in democratising health so creating a front door to healthcare that is easy to understand and gets people to the right service is super important.
When people are sick being there for them is important. Perci, as an example, supports our members with cancer or who are supporting loved ones with cancer. It wraps its arms around them and gives them the tools to improve their lives and help them cope better with the impact of the disease. Something we should truly be proud of and as more people develop cancer through their lifetime something that is going to be more and more important.
What keeps you motivated in your role?
Doing the right thing for people. We are privileged to do what we do, helping our fellow human beings in their hour of need which, some colleagues do directly on a day to day basis, is special. I used to be a clinician, and I knew that I could help the person in front of me. In my role now I hope that I can make a difference to more people. It gets me out of bed every day.
