Cancer Care Performance Pathway

The Cancer Care Performance Pathway combines prevention and early detection, nurse-led navigation, treatment support, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up into one coordinated pathway. The aim is to help people access support earlier, navigate care more easily and achieve better outcomes throughout their cancer journey. 

Performance means helping people achieve the best possible outcomes before, during and after a cancer diagnosis.  

The Cancer Care Performance pathway focuses on identifying and addressing cancer risk earlier, providing coordinated support throughout the cancer journey and using workforce-level insight to help inform future health and wellbeing strategies. 

By bringing together prevention and early detection, personalised support and integrated care, the pathway is designed to improve outcomes for members while helping employers' better manager the impact of cancer across their organisations.

Many services focus on supporting people too late and end too soon, while the Cancer Care Performance Pathway changes both. 

The Pathway provides support across the whole cancer journey, including cancer risk management, screening support, treatment navigation, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up. It is designed to help identify risk earlier, reduce delays and provide ongoing support beyond active treatment.

The Cancer Care Performance Pathway is delivered through Healix Health's dedicated member support teams, nurses and a network of specialist cancer care providers.  

Healix Health supports members through care navigation, needs assessments, care coordination and guidance on accessing available services and benefits. Specialist cancer partners complement this support through Cancer Nurse Specialists and multidisciplinary specialist services that help individuals throughout prevention, diagnosis, treatment, life after treatment and living with the impact of cancer. 

The pathway is designed to support eligible members at every stage of the cancer journey, including those looking to better understand and reduce their cancer risk before concerns arise.  

Support is available for eligible members, including spouses and adult dependants covered under the healthcare scheme, who are seeking guidance on prevention, screening and early detection, those undergoing investigation or treatment, or managing the impact of treatment or living with and beyond cancer.  

Support is also available for members supporting a loved one affected by cancer. 

Members can access the Cancer Care Performance Pathway through the My Healix app and Member Zone. 

Healix Health supports engagement through ongoing communications, education and awareness activity designed to help members better understand their cancer risk, the importance of prevention and early detection, and the support available to them throughout the cancer journey. 

This includes encouraging participation in Health Risk Assessments, sharing personalised health information and promoting appropriate screening and support services. The aim is to help members take positive action earlier and engage with support before concerns become more serious. 

The pathway supports all eligible members by helping them understand and address factors that may influence their future cancer risk, often before a cancer journey begins. 

This includes annual Health Risk Assessments, personalised risk reduction support, behavioural guidance and support to encourage appropriate screening and earlier intervention where required. 

By identifying potential risks earlier and supporting people to take proactive action, the pathway aims to improve long-term health outcomes and reduce the likelihood of later-stage diagnosis.

The Health Risk Assessment helps members understand factors that may influence their cancer risk. 

The assessment considers a range of health and lifestyle factors and provides personalised risk insights, recommendations and guidance to help members make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing. 

The aim is to encourage earlier action, support prevention and improve engagement with appropriate screening programmes. 

At an organisational level, anonymised and aggregated workforce insights can help you better understand health trends, support wellbeing planning and inform future health and benefits strategies.   

Following completion of the Health Risk Assessment, members receive personalised insights to help them better understand factors that may influence their future cancer risk. 

Depending on the outcome, members may receive personalised risk-reduction guidance, support to encourage healthier lifestyle choices, information about appropriate screening opportunities and signposting to additional support where appropriate. 

The assessment is designed to help members understand their risk, take earlier action and make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.  

Yes. The pathway helps members understand appropriate screening options and supports engagement with NHS screening programmes and any screening benefits available through their healthcare scheme. 

The pathway also provides guidance following abnormal screening results, helping members understand next steps and access appropriate support.
