Introducing the Healix Health Cancer Care Performance Pathway
A fully-connected approach to supporting employees affected by cancer
Cancer is one of the fastest-growing health and workforce challenges facing employers today. To help organisations respond, we have launched our new Cancer Care Performance Pathway, developed in partnership with Perci Health and The Health Value Alliance, alongside other trusted partners.
By bringing together prevention, early detection, treatment and long-term cancer care, we have become the first UK healthcare provider to offer this first-of-its-kind, fully connected model.
The healthcare landscape is changing
Cancer risk is rising, and is rising fastest amongst people at the peak of their working lives, driving higher claims costs, longer absences, and business disruption.
At the same time, cancer journeys can often feel fragmented, leaving employees to navigate multiple services alone, at a time when guidance and support is needed the most.
Our Cancer Care Performance Pathway is designed to help employees access the right treatment, in the right place, at the right time, whilst providing workforce insights to inform wellbeing strategies and optimise benefit design.
Built around three core principles, the pathway focuses on:
Prevention and Early Detection
Fully Connected Care
Evidence-based healthcare
"Cancer is one of the biggest health challenges facing UK employers, and it's a challenge that's only building, with more people diagnosed at a younger age and more living, and working, with cancer for longer. The NHS's ten-year Cancer Plan is a welcome step in the right direction, but employers can't wait a decade for that support to arrive.
That's why we've worked with partners including Perci Health and the Health Value Alliance to build a genuinely first-of-its-kind pathway, bringing proven clinical models and data capability together to support people from prevention right through to life beyond cancer."
A new approach to cancer care
Unlike traditional cancer support services that typically begin after diagnosis, the Cancer Care Performance Pathway starts earlier by focusing on prevention and early intervention to help individuals understand their risks and signpost to appropriate screening and provides nurse-led guidance throughout the cancer journey.
It includes:
Health Risk Assessments and screening support
Guidance from Cancer Nurse Specialists
Personalised care planning
Rehabilitation and wellbeing support
Support for carers and return-to-work planning
This holistic approach is designed to improve outcomes, reduce barriers to care and create a better experience for those affected by cancer.
"We're proud to be deepening our four-year partnership with Healix Health to launch the Cancer Care Performance Pathway, a market first in cancer care. For the first time, risk assessment, screening, navigation, supportive care and return to work are brought together into one connected pathway, tightly integrated into Healix Health's clinical and claims workflow so people are identified and offered the right support at the right moment, rather than having to find it themselves."
Helping UK employers manage the cost of cancer
By helping employees access support earlier and navigate care more effectively, the pathway can help businesses:
Reduce the impact of long-term absence
Support workforce wellbeing and productivity
Save on costly cancer claims
Improve utilisation of healthcare benefits
Gain greater insight into workforce health trends
Optimise their benefit design
Workforce level insights will help identify trends and give employers a much clearer picture of their population health, enabling them to work with Healix Health to evolve their benefit design and approach to prevention, creating a more sustainable strategy for funding effective workforce health and wellbeing.
“We are delighted to partner with Healix Health to advance healthcare trust management, starting with the Cancer Care Performance Pathway. By providing a shared view of performance, we can help organisations make better decisions together and act earlier, so that more of the available funding can support prevention and care that delivers lasting benefit for more people. This partnership demonstrates exactly what HVA was created to achieve.”
