Delivering care during conflict‑affected medical movements

Background

Healix supported the safe transport of 58 applicants from remote regions of North India to New Delhi for critical immigration medical and biometric appointments. The task, split across two rapid, successive movements, involved multi-team coordination, long-distance travel, and navigating volatile security conditions.

Challenge

Coordinating safe, timely travel and appointments for 58 applicants amid armed conflict and language barriers.

Movements had to be coordinated simultaneously across these difficult terrains by our Humanitarian Assistance team.

During the second movement, escalating geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan brought additional risk. From 7–10 May 2025, missile strikes and shelling disrupted the region, grounding flights and delaying return travel. Applicants also spoke Tibetan, which posed communication challenges.

Despite these conditions, appointments had to go ahead on time, and safe return plans needed to remain flexible.

Approach

Deployed parallel teams, secured shelter amid conflict, and used local language support to adapt and keep appointments on schedule.

When flights were grounded during the conflict, our Delhi team acted quickly - securing safe accommodation and keeping emergency vehicles on standby. Shelters were identified in advance in case of evacuation, and six applicants were safely held in the capital until travel resumed.

Language barriers were addressed by deploying Tibetan-speaking staff to ensure clear communication throughout. Our on-ground experience and planning were critical to adapting at speed.

Outcome

All 58 applicants completed their appointments safely and on time.

All 58 applicants completed their appointments as planned - despite armed conflict and travel disruption.

The operation supported vital progress in their citizenship applications. More than that, it gave them confidence that their safety and future were in trusted hands.
