Healix launches Youth Travel Risk Readiness Assessment

29.10.2025

Healix has developed the Youth Travel Risk Readiness Assessment in partnership with GSA Global. The online self-assessment helps universities, colleges, schools and youth organisations understand how well they manage the risks linked to student and youth travel. It provides a clear picture of current practices and highlights where improvements can be made.

The tool is built around ISO 31031:2024, the international guidance for youth travel risk management. It enables organisations to measure their current maturity level across key areas such as leadership, planning, communication, and provider selection.

Users answer 28 short questions to assess how prepared their organisation is to manage youth travel safely. The survey takes around ten minutes to complete and provides a downloadable report showing where systems are strong and where improvement is needed.

Commenting on the self-assessment tool, James Henderson, CEO at Healix International said:

"Youth travel brings huge value, but it also carries unique responsibilities and risks. This tool helps organisations see clearly where they stand on safety, and how to build a more resilient approach."

David Wood, CEO at GSA Global added: "We are delighted to work with Healix to help those organisations involved in organising trips for young people assess and enhance their travel risk management (TRM) practices."

The readiness check is part of Healix’s ongoing work to support safer travel and duty of care in education and youth sectors. It adapts widely used risk maturity frameworks to the specific context of youth and school trips.
