Crisis management in a hostile environment
A client operating in a high-risk area of Mexico received credible threats from a threat actor claiming to be affiliated with a known criminal organisation operating in the area. At least one employee was targeted directly, but further investigation was required to determine the extent and credibility of the threats.
Challenge
Healix was engaged to deliver on-demand crisis management, mobilising a 24/7 Incident Management Team until the threat was fully cleared. We implemented a three-phase strategy with clear protocols, including on-ground security support to ensure informed, consistent decision-making. Our Director of Risk & Resilience Consulting was deployed with a regional coordinator to assess threats, secure worksites and accommodations, and provide tailored training for all in-country employees. Discretion and targeted communication kept every stakeholder informed throughout the process.
Outcomes
All remaining in-country staff received hostile environment training, emergency grab bags, and hands-on guidance with the Travel Oracle app. We conducted a detailed Project Risk Assessment, tailored to the organisation’s unique environment, with actionable mitigation strategies for identified threats. Through this engagement, Healix strengthened its client relationships at all levels, enabling us to respond efficiently when support is requested or to proactively reach out based on our intelligence insights.
