Making a claim

Our claims portal is a quick, convenient way to register a new claim – you can access it via the My Healix app. Alternatively, you can call us via the claims helpline to talk it through on the phone, or talk to us on live chat via your scheme guide. It’s helpful if you have your GP referral letter to hand if you’ve been given one, or details of the treatment you are intending to have.
By phone or webchat:

When making a claim, we require personal details such as your name and date of birth. We will also ask some additional data protection questions to ensure we are speaking to the right person. If the claim concerns someone who is over the age of 16, we will need to speak with that person. This process sits in line with UK Data Protection Regulations. If you are seeking authorisation for treatment it would be helpful if you can provide details such as the name of the specialist, the procedure code and the date of the procedure if known.

On the My Healix app:

My Healix ties up all the benefits of your scheme in a handy app, available on the App Store or Google Play. Use it to make a claim, book in with your Virtual GP, get in touch with our team and browse the additional benefits available to you. Information regarding how to register for the app and where to download it will be sent in your welcome email - please note, you won't be able to activate your account until the scheme goes live on 1st January.

The easiest way to let us know about an ongoing claim is to give us a call. We’ll ask you a few questions about where you’re having treatment and what’s happened so far. If we require more information, we’ll ask for your consent to contact your specialists. Once you’ve let us know about your claim, it will continue as normal – we always aim for a smooth transition.
If the invoice is from a hospital, you’ll need to let them know to rebill it. It should either be rebilled to your previous scheme administrator if the treatment date was before 1^st January 2024, or to Healix Health Services if the treatment was after this. It’s a good idea to mention to the hospital that all treatment that takes place after 1^st January 2024, should be billed to Healix Health Services. If the invoice is from a specialist, you can send it to us or your previous insurer directly.

Your benefits

Healix have worked with Nuffield Health to ensure employees and dependants have easy access to private treatment. The services and benefits of the scheme are largely the same as the ones you're used to, but for full details, please refer to the scheme guide.
Yes, your excess is £100. This is an annual excess and will be payable directly to the treatment provider - we’ll email you to let you know when it’s due. If you’ve already paid the excess when you receive the email, don’t worry – you can just ignore it.

All emergency admissions should be via the NHS; private hospitals are not equipped to deal with emergencies. If you need further treatment after your initial emergency, you should discuss this with your hospital doctor and contact the claims helpline.

Continuing cover

You may voluntarily leave the scheme or remove dependants from the scheme ahead of the scheme renewal date (usually January) or within three months of a qualifying lifestyle event by making changes to your current benefits via Workday. Further details are available at My Benefits.

No, the Nuffield Health Employee Healthcare Scheme is a corporate scheme and a benefit offered to employees and their dependants only. Within the scheme guide there are details of where continued cover can be arranged.

Dependants

Previously, when your dependants joined the scheme, they were fully underwritten for any pre-existing medical conditions. By this we mean any disease, illness or injury for which they had received medication, advice or treatment, or of which they had experienced symptoms (whether the condition was diagnosed or not) before their start date, would be excluded from the scheme. We have now simplified this process: going forward, dependants' pre-existing medical conditions/symptoms, whether or not advice has been sought, are excluded from treatment for a period of two years after the date of joining the scheme. After two years of continuous cover, all pre-existing medical conditions are covered subject to the exclusions and limitations of the scheme.
Dependent children are covered to the age of 25. They will be removed from cover on the next annual renewal date following their 25th birthday or after their marriage, whichever is first.

Refer to the information on My Benefits to make changes to your cover. All membership changes will need to be discussed with your HR team directly, and they will then pass any updates through to us.

Data protection

Your personal data will be transferred to us by the Nuffield Health People team; we will process your personal data fairly and lawfully in accordance with principles of the Data Protection Act.
